When your husband rides a motorbike as his primary mode of transport, you get really nervous about his safety. I don't trust other drivers. I've seen them pull out of nowhere, run red lights and do all sorts of stupid things. And, when I see stuff like that, I honk like I mean it. I'm a honker.
Our insurance broker came over to see us a couple of nights ago and my husband told him that he had a motorbike. The insurance broker gently touched him on the arm and said in a soft voice: "Well thank goodness you're getting life insurance then... I don't want to scare you, but a few of my clients have died riding motorbikes."
Meanwhile, I'm just sitting at other end of the table just quietly trying not to freak out that something like that would ever happen to my husband. Life and medical insurance is the best thing we've done. It took a while to get it sorted, but it's so well worth it.
It really changes your way of thinking about the 'what if's...' . So now, every time I hear my husband walk through the door, a huge wave of relief comes over me. To have him safe and back home is one of the most important things to me.
