GRATITUDE IS KNOWING

This post is about gratitude - my favourite topic that I bang on about all the time.

I was on the bus about four years ago and was sitting next to a lady who was writing in a notebook. I was sneaking secret glances and noticed the title at the top of her page: "Things I'm grateful for..." She had written half a page of bulletpoints. I wanted to read them in detail but realised how bad it would be if she caught me.

The next day, I decided to start my own gratitude journal so I could have something to do on the bus. I started off with a few things like I'm grateful for my family, my job, my car... stuff like that.

It's cool to see how my list has grown and what I'm grateful for today. To have air in my lungs. To wake up next to my husband. To be alive. To have limbs. To hear my husband breathing in his sleep. Hearing my Mum's voice. For technology and Skype. I used to have hangups about my body and have negative thoughts when I looked in the mirror. Gratitude taught me that having a healthy body with limbs and organs is actually a miracle. Learn to love your body and what it does for you. You don't need to look like a Victoria Secret model.

If you have a few minutes, please check out this beautiful video because it could totally change how you see the world and how you choose to live.

Choose to see the miraculous in a drop of water, a grain of sand, a snowflake, a soap bubble, a flower, the tenderness of love, the formation of a wave, the sun, the moon, the stars. Equally awesome is our being alive to experience all the big in the little.
